The Internet Is For Porn...

... Ahem... Food Porn that is!

I can't help but sing the infamous song "The Internet Is For Porn..." from the hit West End show "Avenue Q" every time I talk or even think about the increasingly popular saying "Food Porn"

What IS Food Porn I hear you say?...
It's that naughty, but heavenly food that your brain & hips says no to,
but your heart & lips say OH YES to!
That food that you can't afford to treat yourself to, but you can dream about for free.
The treats, sweet, savoury or even drinkable that makes you sweat or your heart flutter just at the mere mention of it.

I've been wondering, what's your favourite Food Porn?
Or your favourite way to drool over your favourite Food Porn?

Your Food Porn could just be an amazing photograph that grabs your attention as you flick through your Twitter stream, that you Repin for inspiration later from a Pinterest board or an exotic menu or dish that has you raging with jealousy from a Facebook or blog post on somebody's travels.

The likes of my own baking idol, Nigella, has even been believed to help start off the "Food Pornography" movement with her seductive manner and the filmography used to show off her baked goods - She's a saucy minx and it's why I love her... And possibly aspire to look just marginally as stunning whilst stood over a pan of boiling pasta as the domestic goddess herself does.

When I have a good 20 minutes or so to fill of an evening, my favourite thing to do is to browse Pinterest, Twitter and my favourite Blogs for the latest offerings of my fave Food Porn and here, I share with you a few of my go to places for a quick fix ; )

Nigella - especially for her latest recipes of which I've drooled over and then hit her blog to make quick sharp! Her One-step No Churn Coffee Ice Cream served in Brioche Rolls is the ultimate sweet Food Porn, with minimal effort required! I've also recently enjoyed trying out various other sweet recipes of hers including her Chocolate Guinness Cake, Cherry Cheesecake, Glitzy Chocolate Puddings and her Vanilla Shortbread. The recipes are always fool proof, trust me - This is my "go to" website for a simple, yet sugary fix!

The Afternoon Tea Club - a pair of lovely ladies after my own heart. They visit and review afternoon tea venues up north, mainly in and around Liverpool & Manchester, using their "Cupcake-O-Meter" to measure their happiness on the cake scale. I love reading their honest and fun reviews, a great escape to the North of the UK and the afternoon tea destinations I wouldn't normally get a chance to sample.

Rachel Khoo - a slightly younger and French inspired domestic goddess, she's a gorgeous lady who knows how to use the fine things in life, such as butter and how to maximise the pleasure it brings in a dish. Her book is heaven just to read, but her easy to follow recipes are simple, yet a must. Her Mousse aux Eclats de Chocolat = Amazing!
You can read about her book in one of my latest blog posts hereif you
don't believe me just yet...

Lazy Giraffe - aka Deepa, a fellow cake lover and a local food blogger who I've known for a few years now. Deepa has a knack of sharing her fave recipes and places to eat and makes you want to replicate and visit these immediately. She is a stunning jewellery designer, having recently succeeded in helping to make my engagement ring for my boyfriend of 10 years on the sly (hehe), she has also invited us to join her for dinner on New Years Eve... How could I even consider turning down dinner with one of my fave bloggers?!

Chocolate Covered Katie - a blog introduced to me by Deepa (above) in fact, however, not technically Food Porn, as she blogs about *Healthy* desserts and treats... she's slipped through the naughty food net on this one occasion ; )
Treats as gifts or as meals for home or for your guests, she has it all covered & will have even the weight watchers drooling & able to indulge if they wish. She's a good girl, I love her!

Paul Winch Furness - I first met the lovely Paul at a bloggers conference in London where he hosted a photography masterclass. I then met his equally lovely wife at their Supperclub in their gorgeous home in Letchworth back in 2011. Paul is not only a family man, he is a very talented food photographer, working for the likes of The Cake & Bake Show 2012, Polpo, Ceviche, Fire & Knives Magazine, Roux at Parliament Square, Selfridges & Nobu, amongst many others. I was even lucky enough to have him join us at The Secluded Tea Party at Easter, he is such a talented guy and I love living my food dreams through his photos whilst I'm stuck at my desk on a dreary lunch hour or three.

Domestic Sluttery - when I need a gift idea, especially something quirky, unique or simply amusing, this website is the answer to my prayers. I could stare at it for hours on end, reading the stunning reviews on hotels, B&Bs, cocktails, cakes, meals out as well as handy utensils for your own kitchen or home. It's the ultimate in... Well... Domestic Sluttery ; )

The High Tea Cast - these cheeky ladies and gents know when they are onto a good thing. Amongst their awesome and varying rants, raves and saucy antics, they share some fab food and cakey haunts in London and beyond. Not only this, but they share easy to make recipes and seasonal food-based gift ideas to recreate in your own home. An email sent direct to your inbox with their latest ramblings & must makes is a recommended invite into your life! I've even been lucky enough to write a post or two for them myself, lucky lady!

Pinterest - It's an empty and bad habit to have, but it's a stupidly addictive way to gain inspiration for a whole manner of events and plans. All you need to do is type in the search bar something such as "Afternoon Tea" and an array of stunning photos and pictures of treats, teacups and table decorations will pop up an you can "pin" them to your own mood boards to keep for research or inspiration when needed. Warning- its a complete time zapper, highly addictive, but fantastic for new ideas.

Dolly Bakes - Rachel McGrath is a fellow Clandestine Cake Club host, running the Bolton CCC and she is one of those cake enthusiasts that will have you equally as enthusiastic by the end of a conversation with her. She has the ultimate obsession with Bundt Cakes to rival all obsessions and by the end of a talk she gave at a recent CCC meet I went to, she had us all as Bundt crazy as she is about them, sheer brilliance. I also love Rachel's reviews on eating out in all sorts of fine Dining establishments all over the world, she's my eating out idol.

  1. My food porn is menus on restaurant websites. I can spend hours going through them, if I know I'm going somewhere is will study the menus and decide what I want over and over again. I don't even need pictures, who needs 50 shades of Grey when you have a starter menu.
